The world’s most pressing problems require a multidisciplinary approach. The Global Affairs major provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the economic, political, cultural, and environmental processes that affect all societies in the contemporary world. Students will gain a deep foundation in the discipline through core courses and a choice of either a regional or thematic concentration. The program also offers the flexibility to tailor the degree to student interests and career goals.
The GSGA major provides the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and respond to today’s most complex international challenges, including terrorism, refugee crises, global inequality, poverty, health and climate change. It will teach you to think about these issues across regions and disciplines, including history, political science, anthropology, sociology, economics, law, and philosophy. It will prepare you for a wide range of careers, from government jobs in foreign service and international non-governmental organizations to business positions with multinational corporations.
SUNY Global promotes and supports global learning as an integral part of the university’s mission. Global learning is essential for preparing students to live in a diverse and interconnected world, make informed decisions and contribute to a better future.
Our research on global affairs and US foreign policy informs decision makers, elevates diversity and inclusion, fosters public engagement, and promotes a more informed society. We work to drive awareness and expand understanding of geopolitics and global affairs among the public, particularly young people and historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.
