Late-breaking is a type of news that breaks after the normal reporting time for a particular story. Breaking news may include current events, political developments, or sports scores. News programs often use a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen to announce breaking stories. In the past, before 24-hour news networks existed, programming interruptions were typically limited to breaking news such as tornado or landfalling hurricane alerts. These breaking stories were often accompanied by blaring headlines and lower thirds that conveyed a sense of urgency.
2025 Late-Breaking Abstracts
The late-breaking abstract deadline is designed to recognize novel, critically important research developments that become available for public dissemination after the submission deadline of regular abstracts. To be eligible for the late-breaking program, an abstract must report data that is of critical importance to the scientific/clinical community and does not fit into categories traditionally suited to the main e-poster sessions (e.g., case reports, qualitative surveys, rating scale validation, small confirmatory studies, research proposals).
Research in progress abstracts are an opportunity to share early-stage work and elicit helpful feedback from the community. They can also help foster discussions and collaborations between researchers. Research in progress abstracts that are accepted for a poster or demo session will be displayed in specific poster stands and will have a dedicated session in the conference programme.
